It’s about $30 parts and 1 hour of labor, costing a total of $150 for the repair. but none of the oil present is fresh oil nor is the oil pan coated. does it help? i can't say for sure. But 1st of all can anyone confirm that this pipe is actually the gearbox breather pipe, also last service was undertaken in sept 2016 but i can not believe the box was topped up then. If the pan seal cracks, the fluid will leak out. This is the original transmission, and I do not believe the CV joints have ever been replaced or worked on. Remove the original breather gear and insert the new S&S reed valve assembly into the breather valve cavity. Q: This is a 5SFE and A140E transmission. ZF 16sp gearbox in DAF CF85 430. It keeps the oil pressure in the engine from reaching critical levels & blowing out a gasket. I found a 4 inch pool of fluid below my 20111 v6. There are multiple places a transmission can leak. If it is leaking and if you have one of these caps turn your Schrader valve in (turn towards the right) to tighten it. if its leaking at the gear link its an engine strip to sort it. If you don't know how much oil is in the gearbox, the only way to fix it is to drain it and refill with the correct quantity, there is no level hole or other way of measuring the correct oil level. The transmission is dripping oil when I start the car it leaks like it is under pressure it is not just seeping. Someone suggested that the problem could be clogged breathers causing pressure to build up and seek escape elsewhere. I removed the refill plug and found the oil to be at or almost at he maximum level. If one of your wheels or axles is hit during an accident it can cause a transmission fluid leak.
